…The baler is going great guns, operators are very pleased with it…

Alan Butler | Manager Water, Wastewater & Waste

Challenge

Walcha Council operate a small recycling facility at their Waste Depot where cardboard and other recyclables are recovered from waste brought to the facility.

Council had an antiquated cardboard baler in place which was constantly deteriorating in both condition and performance.

This had resulted in operational costs disproportionate to the benefit the baler afforded the facility.

Solution

Waste Initiatives were approached for advice on a suitable replacement baler for the facility.

After a brief consultation with Council staff and a site assessment to verify site conditions and placement, a HX400-38T semi-automatic closed-door baler was recommended as the ideal upgrade for the facility.

The high-force HX400 Baler ensures Walcha Council are able to not only process their cardboard volumes, but also a range of other recyclables including shredded paper, cans and bottles.

The automatic CM90 Horizontal Baler has proven reliable, safe & user-friendly and is consistently producing excellent bale densities. Our experience with the team at Waste Initiatives and their product has been completely satisfactory, and we have no hesitation in recommending them – great work guys.

Peter Windley | Coordinator Waste Operations

    Challenge

Shoalhaven City Council on the NSW south coast is home to a growing population of over 100,000 residents over a 4,500km2 land mass. The primary recycling facility for the region is located in West Nowra and is a critical asset in Council’s infrastructure network.

With an increasing focus on resource recovery, Council have fast-tracked upgrades of the facility, developing it with the objective of enhancing their recycling capabilities within the region and becoming local government leader in resouce recovery.

A multi-purpose high performance baler was required for processing of cardboard and plastic materials received at the transfer station.

    Solution

In accordance with Council procurement policy, a public tender was released to market, inviting bids from all reputable baler suppliers.

Superseding all other tenderers across a thorough assessment criteria, Waste Initiatives was awarded the contract for supply & installation of the baler (including infeed conveyor with push ramp).

In spite of site delays with erecting Council’s shed to house the baler, Waste Initiatives were able to arrange a staged delivery and installation which involved preparing and sealing the baler for outdoors storage while it awaited the shed construction.

Installation & commissioning was later completed to Shoalhaven’s full satisfaction.

      Upper Hunter Shire Council

      Location:
      Scone NSW

Since their introduction the balers have proved reliable and have assisted Upper Hunter Shire Council’s recycling efforts.

      Paul Jakes

      Challenge

Upper Hunter Shire Council is a local government authority and provides an extensive array of services to its local residents.

The Upper Hunter Shire Council were looking to source balers for their recycling department.

The balers needed to be able to handle a range of bulky materials and be tough enough to withstand constant daily use.

Easy operation was key as the staff needed equipment that would require minimal training and be user friendly.

      Solution

Waste Initiatives supplied them with a WastePac 60HD baler for the heavy-duty materials and a WastePac 250 baler for the larger materials.

The WastePac 60 Heavy Duty Baler is one of our sturdiest, most versatile balers that can handle a range of difficult to bale materials including plastic bottles, cans, paint tins, plastic and more.

The WastePac 250 baler is ideal for medium to large amounts of material with ease of loading to save time. This baler features dual cylinders for even compaction and the fully automated bale ejector simplifies the removal of the bale.
