We purchased a WastePac 100 baler from Waste Initiatives to help with our waste management. We were experiencing high volumes of cardboard and plastic wrapping and needed to compact them to a bale to save on space and reduce the amount of waste collections. The baler is an asset to the supermarket and easily managed by the staff.

Challenge

IGA Fresh Penola is an award winning supermarket in Penola South Australia offering a wide range of specialty and gourmet foods along with award winning service.

IGA Fresh Penola were looking for a way to compact their packaging waste to free up space where the empty cardboard boxes and plastics were stored and to minimise the amount of bin collections per week.

They required a machine that could handle the volume of cardboard and plastic waste that the supermarket produced whilst still being compact enough to fit in the specified area. One of the requirements was that the staff needed to be easily trained to operate the machine with minimal down time from their other tasks.

Solution

Waste Initiatives supplied a WastePac 100 Vertical Baler which is the ideal cardboard compactor for this size supermarket and the waste encountered.

It has a fully automatic bale ejector and produces a pallet sized bale which is easily handled.

The ease of feeding the cardboard boxes into the large feed opening is saving time for the staff members which is a key advantage to this robust machine.
