Challenge: Finding the right waste compaction solution
Saizeriya’s existing waste compactor had reached the end of its service life, necessitating a reliable replacement tailored to its operational needs. The challenge lay in the limited space within their designated waste area, which had to accommodate a bin lifter, compactor, and hook-lift bin without compromising functionality. Additionally, their waste stream included oversized cardboard boxes measuring 1500mm x 1000mm, which needed to fit within the hopper without causing blockages. Waste Initiatives was engaged to provide not just a new compactor but a fully engineered solution that maximised efficiency within the confined space.
Solution: A tailoredapproach to space constraints
Waste Initiatives’ engineering team worked with manufacturing partners in Ireland to develop the most effective compaction solution. Given the space constraints, the SS2500 model was selected over the SC2500, offering similar performance in a more compact footprint. This ensured all components fit within the designated area while still allowing service access to the bin clamps.
To optimise the setup, a bin lifter with a safety cage was incorporated, accommodating 1100-litre bins. The hopper was designed to handle Saizeriya’s large cardboard waste without bridging, ensuring smooth operation.
Waste Initiatives’ installation team managed the transition with minimal disruption. The removal of the old compactor and installation of the new WastePac system was completed within days, providing Saizeriya with a more efficient waste management solution while reinforcing Waste Initiatives’ expertise in delivering tailored, high-performance equipment.
