Veolia – OTR Debeader

Location: Adelaide SA

Veolia in South Australia was tasked with managing the disposal of approximately 10,000 large used off-the-road (OTR) tyres, including large mining truck tyres for their client, BHP. These enormous tyres, used in the mining industry, required specialised handling before they could be shredded and further processed.

HDPE Drum Shredding

Location: Hoganholme QLD

Cormack Holdings (Tricorbraun), a specialist in closure manufacturing for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical markets, faced a challenge with its plastic moulding lines. The purgings produced were too large to be processed through their existing inline granulators.

C&D Recovery Plant

Location: Mid North Coast NSW

Legacy Park, located on the Mid North Coast of NSW, aimed to establish a Closed Circular Economy in the region to mitigate the impact of construction and demolition (C&D) waste on landfills. With approximately 250,000 tons of C&D waste generated annually in the region.

Revert Group, a company specialising in the fit-out and refurbishment sector of commercial and industrial waste (C&I), faced a critical challenge in efficiently managing their waste streams at their facility in Brooklyn, Victoria.

Chris Taylor, the Operations Manager at Sacca’s Fine Foods, faced a significant challenge related to the high volume of cardboard waste the business generates – approximately 6 tons per week per store. The use of older compactors proved problematic, as they frequently broke down, leading to increased preventative maintenance costs.

Rowcon Recycling

As one of the largest privately-owned civil construction material suppliers and recyclers in the Sunshine Coast, Rowcon Recycling approached Waste Initiatives in commissioning a construction and demolition (C&D) recycling plant. Only 20 to 30 per cent of C&D waste is currently reused or recycled in Australia.
