Overview
Solar Panel Recycling Systems
Complete, modular solutions for recovering valuable materials from end-of-life photovoltaic panels.
Stokkermill Solar combines panel preparation, delamination, size reduction, refining and separation technologies to recover valuable material fractions from end-of-life photovoltaic modules.
From entry-level semi-automatic processing to high-capacity automatic plants, systems can be configured according to the incoming panel type, processing volume, required automation and recovery objectives.

The Input Defines the Process
Not every photovoltaic panel requires the same processing approach.
Panel construction, condition, incoming volume and the required recovered materials all influence how a recycling system should be configured.
Stokkermill Solar provides modular platforms combining input preparation, mechanical delamination, refining and separation, allowing the processing line to be selected around the application rather than applying one technology to every feedstock.
Systems range from practical semi-automatic solutions for standard photovoltaic panels through to continuous industrial plants capable of processing a much broader range of modules.
Three Solar Recycling Solutions
PV Entry Level
The PV Entry Level Recycling Line provides a compact starting point for operators entering photovoltaic panel recycling.
The process is organised around three main stages: removal of the aluminium frame, removal of the junction box and infrared delamination. This separates recoverable aluminium and glass while producing an EVA/silicon backsheet mat for potential further processing.

Technical Overview
| Specification | PV Entry Level |
|---|---|
| Processing capacity | 40–50 panels/h |
| Process | Semi-automatic |
| Installed power | 20–45 kW* |
| Approx. footprint | 10,000 × 3,000 × 2,100 mm* |
Process Flow
PV Panel → Frame Removal → Junction Box Removal → DLS Delamination
Outputs:
Aluminium Profiles → Junction Box → Glass → EVA/Silicon Backsheet
Solar Delamination
The Solar Delamination Line extends the process beyond initial panel preparation and delamination.
Following aluminium frame and junction box removal, the DLS Delaminator recovers glass and produces a remaining sandwich mat. An additional EVA-silicon refining stage then separates further glass, silicon-rich material, EVA and copper ribbon.
This provides a more complete material recovery process while retaining a semi-automatic plant configuration suited to lower processing volumes.

Technical Overview
| Specification | Solar Delamination |
|---|---|
| Processing capacity | <50 panels/h |
| Process | Semi-automatic |
| Installed power | 90–115 kW |
| Approx. footprint | 12,000 × 5,000 × 5,000 mm |
Process Flow
PV Panel → Frame Removal → Junction Box Removal → DLS Delaminator → EVA-Silicon Refining System
Recovered fractions:
Aluminium | Glass | Medium/Fine Glass | Silicon | EVA | Copper Ribbon | Mixed Metals | Copper
Solar Automatic
High-Capacity Automatic Solar Panel Recycling
Solar Automatic is Stokkermill’s industrial platform for continuous photovoltaic panel processing.
Unlike the semi-automatic configurations, the system is designed to accept a much broader range of modules, including:
- Monocrystalline
- Polycrystalline
- Bifacial
- Amorphous
- Thin-film
- Aluminium-framed
- Frameless
- Damaged modules
The system processes intact or damaged panels in a continuous automatic process and can be configured with a custom plant layout for 24/7 operation.

Solar Automatic + WEEE Recycling
The Solar Automatic Integrated System can be configured to process more than photovoltaic panels.
Stokkermill confirms that the platform can also process WEEE Category 4, aluminium profiles and light metal scrap, allowing operators to diversify feedstock and potentially improve plant utilisation when photovoltaic panel volumes fluctuate.
From Solar Panels to Recovered Materials
The purpose of solar panel recycling is not simply to reduce panels in size. Effective processing progressively liberates and separates the different materials contained within the module.
Aluminium
Recovered from photovoltaic panel frames and separated for downstream metal recycling.
Glass
Recovered through delamination and separation, with different glass fractions generated according to the processing configuration.
Silicon
Further refining can produce a concentrated silicon-rich fraction from the photovoltaic module.
EVA
Polymer material separated from the glass and silicon-bearing fractions during advanced processing.
Copper
Recovered from junction boxes, electrical components and copper ribbon contained within photovoltaic modules.
