Overview
Australia generates millions of waste tyres each year from passenger vehicles, commercial transport fleets and heavy mining equipment. Managing these materials safely and profitably requires purpose-built tyre recycling machines capable of handling everything from car tyres to large Off-The-Road (OTR) casings.
Modern tyre recycling is no longer simply waste management, it’s advanced rubber recycling and material recovery. Through staged shredding and separation, operators can convert scrap tyres into valuable outputs such as Tyre-Derived Fuel (TDF).
As export restrictions tighten and domestic markets expand, investment in robust tyre recycling equipment is essential to support sustainable growth across the sector.
At Waste Initiatives, we partner with tyre recycling companies and resource recovery operators to deliver systems that:
- Maximise throughput with high-torque tyre shredders engineered for continuous duty
- Produce consistent output sizing for TDF and crumb markets
- Liberate and recover steel efficiently
- Reduce manual handling and improve site safety
- Lower haulage costs through effective volume reduction
- Support environmental compliance and reporting
Related Equipment
-
High-torque primary tyre shredders
Reduce whole tyres into manageable pieces with powerful, high-torque cutting technology designed for continuous industrial operation. Suitable for whole Passenger through to Truck and segmented OTR tyres.
-
Secondary tyre shredders
Refine pre-shredded material into controlled, consistent sizing suitable for TDF production or downstream crumb processing.
-
OTR tyre debeaders and cutters
Safely remove bead wires and section large OTR tyres to prepare them for efficient shredding and processing. Our OTR debeaders can process up to 63 inches rim diameter or 4 meters in outside diameter.
-
Steel liberation and magnetic separation systems
Extract and recover steel from shredded rubber to improve output quality and maximise commodity value.
-
Screening and classification units
Separate processed material into defined size fractions to meet specific TDF or rubber recycling specifications.
-
Conveying and feeding systems
Provide controlled material flow between processing stages to ensure safe, stable and efficient plant operation.
-
Complete tyre recycling plant systems
Integrated, staged processing lines engineered to convert waste tyres into market-ready products with high throughput and reliability.
Equipment for TDF Production
The Barclay Primary Tyre Shredder, a “workhorse” in tyre shredding equipment that processes tyres up to 72″, producing 4.9″–10″ (124–254 mm) strips in seconds. Built tough for high-volume operations.
The Barclay Secondary Tyre Shredder reduces tyre material to 1.4″, 2″, or 3.6″ (35–90 mm) chips. Ideal for TDF or granulating, it is designed to pair with a primary shredder.
The Barclay Classifier is a versatile tyre classifier with 2″, 4″, or 6″ (50–150 mm) output sizes. Improves efficiency by reprocessing only the rubber that needs further size reduction.
The Eagle OTR Debeader, a cutting-edge solution for processing end of life (EOL) OTR tyres. An industry leading solution that can remove bead bundles from massive OTR tyres up to 4m outside diameter (OD), or 63″ rim diameter. Ideal for EOL tyres from mining sites, with wireless controls and powerful hydraulic performance.
The Eagle Titan OTR Cutter handles tyres up to 8ft diameter and 38” wide. Hydraulic rollers and probe ensure fast, safe cuts. Diesel or electric options available.
The Eagle Titan II cuts OTR and mining tyres up to 14ft in diameter and 44″ wide. Hydraulic control and trailer-mounted for maximum cutting power and mobility.
The Wastepac GL32120 is a mid-sized industrial shredder for tyres, e-waste, and bulky waste. Customisable for high-throughput and heavy-duty applications.
