High-Capacity Fine Grinding for Industrial & Resource Recovery Applications
The WSM Hammermill range is engineered to deliver high-volume, fine-grind performance with uniform particle sizing, low maintenance requirements and long machine life. Designed and manufactured by West Salem Machinery (WSM), WSM Hammermills are trusted globally across biomass, recycling, agricultural and industrial processing environments where consistent output and continuous operation are critical.
WSM Hammermills are purpose-built for applications requiring precise particle sizing at high throughput. Large hammer circles, wide throat openings and operating speeds from 1,800–3,600 rpm allow the system to handle a wide range of materials while maintaining excellent control over final product size.
Capacities range from 1–50 t/h, with hammer circle diameters and throat widths from 20–60 inches, enabling systems to be tailored to specific production requirements.
Supplied in Australia by Waste Initiatives as part of the Vertech premium range, WSM Hammermills are ideally suited as secondary or tertiary grinding solutions, adding value by converting pre-processed material into a market-ready end product.

42 Series
Severe duty hybrid hammermill/grinder designed for effective reduction of a wide range of material. Heavy duty rotor, large bearings, and thick internal wear liners for the reduction of larger pieces of wood than a conventional hammermill, and better withstand damage from
tramp materials.
Uses and materials processed include:
Citrus rinds for animal feed, pre-dryer pellet furnish, chip overs, pre-hogged wood for use as pulp wood, green chips, planer shaving, landscape material, and biomass feedstock.
44 Series
High speed, high volume hammermills with 20,000 fpm hammer tip speed for high capacity grinding to a small particle size. Features a large diameter hammer circle and throat widths from 20” to 60”. These rugged mills have near full circle sizing screens to maximize production and deliver a consistent end product. Includes plenum flange for air discharge of fine material.
Uses and materials processed include:
Ag fiber (Straw/Stover), wood flour, potting mix, animal bedding, mulch and landscape products, fiberboard, animal feed, shavings, ethanol feedstock, and wood fiber for pellet manufacturing.
48 Series Super Shredder
Massive machines for the largest capacity requirements. Combines the efficiency of the high speed 44 Series and the durability of the severe duty 42 Series. These machines deliver high tip speed for small, consistent fiber sizing, increased area for more thru-put, and flexible/
interchangeable tooling. Mill duty construction to deliver 24/7 operation of producing premium quality feedstock.

Biomass feedstock, biofuel, pellet feedstock, wheat straw, corn stover, grass straw, sorghum, bagasse, energy crops, wood chips, sawdust, and shavings.
